This artwork was inspired by the Descriptions of Holy Cities, which are Islamic graphic-layouts of various cities, stylized and labeled. They are bound in small, Beatrix Potter sized books. The Met Museum has two of these which I regularly go to peer at. The museum opens them to different pages from time to time.
